Y’all, have you ever had one of THOSE days as a mom? Just that day where everything can go wrong so it does. I had that day, it is awful, stressful and brings my no longer held back tears out.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was triggering me. If the dogs got too close to me, I wanted to scream. If I heard “mom” one too many times, it made me want to scream. The extra dirt I saw on the ground, made me want to scream. So I am already in the over stimulated mom mood at this point. Then all shit hits the fan…..
My son went to his well visit and got his updated vaccines. Of course, right on track, here comes his fever. Yeah yeah yeah, I have heard 100x that vaccines don’t give fevers. Both of my kids get low grade and my son’s last about 24 hours. Well, he has his low grade fever so cue the round the clock Tylenol. All this and he is teething, so he is being a handsome butt face. He is tired and angry so naturally he throws toys, hits his sister and screams at me. Thank you my boy, I love you too.
Here comes my daughter, “here brother, hold my sippy cup, I will send mom over the top”. Let me tell you, she does. She has stomach issues and she always has since she was born. The doctor’s tell me it wasn’t caused by her being born so early but even though I couldn’t help when she was delivered because of complications, it still brings on the guilt. Well she is having her painful issues so I am trying everything in my power to help her and make her feel better. She is so young so she doesn’t understand what is happening so I try my best to not hold anything against her. But let me tell you about miss sassy pant’s attitude. Shewwwwwww, if you don’t get her water fast enough, screams. If you don’t get her napkin fast enough, screams. If my son gets too close to her, screams. I want her to hold onto this fire for the rest of her life but when she is this young, that is rough as her mom!
Let’s move onto the animals. My cat has stomach issues, welcome to my family of stomach issues 🙂 So naturally, hairball, everyday, everywhere. GROSS! My oldest dog, Izzy, has stomach issues as well (haha sucks for us). She has stinky rotten farts that make you want to vomit. Those farts still happen with the expensive prescription food she has to be on. Thank you my furry love, I love you. Now here comes my puppy who is a giant horse now. Her eye is swollen shut, I mean why not? Right? Why not have this happen on OOTD days that I am having.
So now, on this day that I feel like I am barely surviving, I have to deal with my cranky little man, some gosh awful smells, 26 meetings (because I still work), a vet visit, pick up groceries, possible urgent care visit, tumbling class, cook dinner, clean the house…. cue mom meltdown.
Seriously, mom-ing is a tough job. It isn’t for the faint of heart. If you haven’t been told today that you are doing a fantastic job. Let me be the first to tell you, mom guilt sucks, mom meltdowns are real, tears are ok to let roll, relish in those little arms around your neck and YOU ARE DOING A WONDERFUL JOB!
